Secondary education
Children supported under Humanitas Afrika child-sponsorship programme qualify for the support in a secondary school after they have successfully passed their Basic Education Certificate Examination and presented their certificate. They must also provide an acceptance letter from the school and the school bill. Humanitas Afrika pays the their school fees, covers the cost of accommodation (in case of boarding school students included in the fees), and gives students some pocket money for their upkeep and travel.
Secondary School education in Ghana focuses primarily on general knowledge with Maths, English, Integrated Science, Social Studies, PE, ICT, Religious and Moral Education being the core subjects. Students can choose to study the following courses: Home Economics, Agriculture, General Arts or Business. However, not all schools offer all courses. Most of students study at a boarding school away from their homes, often in a different region due a limited capacity in local schools. After four years of study they do their WAEC exams and get the West African Secondary School Certificate.

University or college scholarship
2011 was the first year when most of the students from our project in Obom village passed their WAEC exams with flying colours. They are currently preparing to enter university or college. However, the cost of tertiary education is far higher than that of secondary level.
You can join us and help raise funds to send these young people further to college or university. Anybody, a group or an individual, is invited to support our hardworking and ambitious students and help them reach higher.
