Since 2006, Humanitas Afrika is helping children in Lenana slum on the outskirts of Nairobi in Kenya. This project started as a local initiative and was adopted by Hanne Howard, a Canadian citizen, who then founded Hanne Howard Fund Lenana. The centre facilitates care and education for local children with a pre-school programme and a hostel for orphans. Every child under the care of the project must attend school and the organization follows and plans their progress in school. There is an increasing number of high school children most of which are placed in a boarding school.
